Detailed Features of Google Pixelbook 12in:
Here’s my detailed review of the laptop:
Sleek design:
The thing that I loved the most about the Google Pixelbook 12in is its sleek and slim design. Although its screen isn’t detachable, the 360-degree hinge does the job for me perfectly. It’s a very smooth hinge and you can move it without applying much pressure.
It’s a very light device as well that weighs around 2.6 pounds. You can easily carry it around wherever you want without struggling much.
The overall dimensions of this laptop are 0.4 x 11.4 x 8.7 inches. The overall body is made of aluminum and has an attractive silver coloring over it. It has a two-toned effect giving the laptop an aesthetic finish. The overall build quality is strong and sturdy but I suggest you avoid putting a lot of pressure on it.
Vibrant display:
Many people love the 12.5-inch display of the Google Pixelbook 12in and I am one of them. The resolution it offers is 2400 x 1600 pixels. The multimedia viewing experience is exceptional on this machine no matter from what angle you look at it.
The screen is made of scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass which is also extremely bright. It delivers a brightness rate of 400 nits. I didn’t find any issues in the display while using it in a bright lighting environment thanks to its brightness level.
Touchscreen:
Touchscreen is a major part of this laptop’s display and it doesn’t disappoint as well. It’s extremely smooth and responds quickly. The screen also has a digitizer in it that supports the Pixelbook pen. It is an active stylus you can utilize to use different on-screen features. The screen responds to the pen seamlessly as well.
You can use it to draw on the screen and perform some other actions as well. Google allows you to perform some cool tricks with the Pen as well such as activating Google Assistant.
You can circle over any image or content and this assistant will offer relevant information. I would love it if Google included this pen with the laptop but you have to purchase it separately. Also, you don’t have to charge it as well since it includes a built-in AAAA battery that can go on for around one year.
Connectivity ports:
I wasn’t surprised to see a low number of connectivity ports on the Google Pixelbook 12in due to its very slim design. You’re only getting a headphone jack along with two USB-C ports.
Performance:
Now, let’s move on to discussing the performance of the Google Pixelbook 12in. This machine delivers quality performance due to the hardware it has. You’re getting an Intel Core i5-7y57 processor in it along with an 8GB of RAM in its base model. The storage option in this version is 128GB SSD.
Moving on to its best configuration, you’re getting a Core i7-7Y75 CPU along with 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD.
The model I tested was the basic one and still, it delivered very fast performance. There was no major lag while running high-end software. Due to the lack of a good GPU, this laptop is going to be a little disappointing for gaming lovers. Overall, the performance of each version is top-notch.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The Google Pixelbook 12in has a chiclet-style backlit laptop. You’re getting a shallow keystroke on it which makes typing easier and comfortable on it. It’s also a little bit snappy which gives a satisfying feeling when you press buttons. However, you’re not getting a few specific buttons on it including PgUp, PgDn, and Del buttons.
The trackpad, on the other hand, is very smooth and large. You can easily slide your fingers on it and perform specific gestures as well. It’s very responsive and feels good to use.
Multimedia:
You’re getting great speakers on this laptop that can produce good-quality sound and bass. They are mounted under the keyboard for a better sound experience. You’re also getting a decent-quality 720p webcam that is placed in the middle of the screen.
Battery life:
This Pixelbook offers great battery life as well. You can run it for around 10 hours without having to plug in the charger. It’s a very decent timing for general users. Also, keep in mind that the battery may drain faster under intense usage.
Google Assistant Integration:
Just like many other Google products, this laptop also has the Google Assistant built-in it. This assistant is designed to help you perform different tasks using your voice command. For example, you can send an email to someone only using voice commands. You can also use it for getting general information about things like weather and news.
Pricing:
The price of the Google Pixelbook 12in at the time of its launch was $999. Since the company isn’t manufacturing it anymore, it’s only available on third-party retailers like Amazon. So, the price can vary according to the seller and the platform. In general, you might be able to grab it for somewhere around $699 to $850.
Pros and Cons:
Here are the pros and cons of this laptop:
Pros:
- Slim and sleek design
- Great display

The Google Pixelbook 12in is one of the best laptops for both professional and general users. It offers a sleek and portable design making it easier to carry around. Besides the design, the display quality is amazing as well.
